At Alpaca Apparel, we oversee the entire journey of our alpaca fleece knitwear, from the ‘alpaca to the apparel’. The process begins each year with shearing, which takes place annually in May. The fleece is carefully sorted before being sent to our trusted mill in Northern Ireland. There, it’s processed using 100% renewable electricity, ensuring a sustainable approach at every step. The fleece is blended into unique, undyed yarns and spun onto biodegradable cones. It’s then sent to Leicester, where our simple yet elegant designs are brought to life using state-of-the-art knitting machines.
We follow this method at every stage of production, ensuring that everything remains UK-based and completely sustainable. Our dedication to maintaining the natural beauty and luxurious qualities of alpaca fleece knitwear shines through in each of our creations. We take immense pride in our products, and our passion for creating exquisite alpaca fleece clothing is matched only by the love we have for these gentle creatures.

Our Story
Founded in 2021 by model Claire Turner, Alpaca Apparel was born from a profound connection to nature and a desire to offer an alternative to the mass-produced fashion industry. Our journey began with a handful of alpacas on our small holding in the New Forest, and as our herd grew, we discovered the unparalleled beauty and potential of their fleece. Infused with a spirit of innovation and a deep respect for natural produce and sustainability, Claire set out to create limited edition alpaca fleece knitwear that combines the timeless allure of luxury alpaca fleece with an unwavering commitment to ethical and sustainable fashion.

Our alpaca yarns are never dyed, which provides two significant benefits: a reduction in environmental impact and the ability to create truly unique natural colours. The bespoke nature of our business ensures that every product remains exclusive. Alpaca Apparel will never produce more than 20 pieces of any one design. Furthermore, we will never recreate the same colourways from one year to the next, as our herd continues to grow and diversify. This means that your alpaca fleece knitwear is a unique luxury piece of clothing, one that you can cherish for a lifetime.
